Résumé:

Thomson Gale and K.G. Saur are proud to present World Biographical Information System Online (WBIS Online), the most comprehensive biographical databases available. Based on the digitization of Saur's well-known Biographical Archives, WBIS Online compiles biographical articles form reference works pertaining to a country or a specific language/cultural area. At launch, the database contains 2.28 million full-text biographies on 1.3 million individuals. In addition to the digitization, full-text articles, WBIS Online also provides an index to 30 biographical Archives totaling 5.7 million biographical articles on more than 3.6 million people.

WBIS Online presents a practically inexhaustible supply of information for research on social, cultural, political, scientific, historical and genealogical topics. Users can select between five interface languages--English, Spanish, Italian, French and German--and can easily access biographical information on millions of individuals from all walks of life, across all eras and from all around the world. Approximately one million biographical articles will be added every year. This project represents the largest biographical database ever assembled--featuring biographical profiles from all countries and regions worldwide from the beginnings of history to the present.
